Breeding, Dog Breeds

My 7 months old pit bull puppy..

The past 7 months of being an owner of a pit bull puppy has been a challenging experience for me. I have owned a few different breeds of dogs in my life and I can assure you that raising a pit bull puppy is not suited for the novice. A pit bull puppy’s energy level is very high and as a puppy they love to play rough. You will have to draw clear rules for them as well as display alpha qualities at all times.7 months old pit bull

My 7 months old pit bull puppy, well she is a little terror but very sweet and irresistible at the same time. What I love about real American pit bull terriers is their small size, they will stay small and fit through out their lives. My pit bull puppy is 40 pounds at 7 months which is a very good weight for a real American pit bull terrier. When I say “real American pit bull terrier” I exclude American bully’s as well as Staffordshire terriers. The “real American pit bull terrier” do not weigh more than maximum 55 pounds because they were bred to be fit and quick in a fight.

My 7 months old pit bull female puppy is only 40 pounds but extremely strong for her size. She would challenge me once in a while and it is often difficult to pin her down multiple times as she never tires out. Pit Bulls have extremely powerful jaws and it is something to watch out for when playing. Pit bulls can be stubborn and may not always give into an alpha so it is something to keep in mind if you have kids. My pit bull puppy is already very protective of the home and barks if she senses anything at all outdoors.

My pit’s diet consists of diamond natural dog food mixed in with home cooked meals or leftovers available at home. I treat her to raw chicken legs or chicken backs at least once a day. It is perfectly safe to feed your pit bull raw meat if it is frozen for at least 3 days. Through raw feeding, you can accomplish smooth silky coat on your pit bull and it is very beneficial to them.

Pit Bull puppies require very little grooming. Nail trimming becomes a hassle if you didn’t get your pit bull used to it as a puppy. Pit bulls are quick learners and easy to house break. My pit bull puppy was house broken at 5 months of age. Don’t forget the puppy vaccines! My pit bull received all of her shots by 6 months of age including the rabies vaccine. I will be getting her spayed soon and best of all there are many free neuter/spay clinics devoted to Pit Bulls.
